The transparent cabinet for individual objects is the latest model in the glass cabinet Orange which we have been producing for a long time, and incorporates various improvements that we have made to the original design. The basic structures, such as the framework, the door mechanism and the glass shelves, have not been changed greatly. The improvements we have made are described below. Although the underlying principles embodied in our products remain the same, an accumulation of experience reveals itself in the solidity and fine details of the design.
Even though we try to capture the essence of objects and combine design elements that have a simple grace, which is the principle behind our production process, simplicity alone is not enough to make a product attractive. We are definitely not pursuing minimalism or anonymous simplicity, which are insipid and uninspiring. Rather, we would like to convey a unique personality with each of our products by pursuing simplicity in our own personal style. This requires a philosophy that highly values the intrinsic qualities of things, as well as the ability to incorporate personality into the design of the piece. As well as displaying beauty on the surface, objects and spaces also have hidden qualities within.
The underlying quality is something that cannot be hidden. Objects can change, evolve and degenerate just like human beings. However, “creation” is something that cannot stop evolving as long as it is alive, and we believe that this is also the essence of human nature. The glass cabinet we have been producing, Orange, has a design that is both simple and minimal. Taking the next step forward with this design was, inevitably, a challenge. You can see for yourself when viewing the product how the “transparent cabinet for individual objects” has now evolved.
The basic form of this cabinet began as a one-door curio case (glass cabinet). This produced a storage cabinet that could also be functionally utilized as a cupboard. As five of the six sides are constructed from clear glass, you can easily see all the tableware stored inside. When you start using this product, you will notice that opening the door and reaching in for a wine glass or plate is quite a natural process. This one-door cabinet is not only compact but also has a large storage capacity, and can be used to store all tableware and glass items in daily use.
Furthermore, the glass used for each of the five faces allows natural light to enter from all directions and illuminate the stored items. This creates a bright atmosphere instead of the dark and heavy impression that some cupboards convey. This cabinet can be used not only as a cupboard but also in various other ways, such as a collection case or a display cabinet, without seeming out of place.
